ASHLAND: Robert “Beetle” E. Bailey went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 1, 2024, in Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital surrounded by his family at the age of 74.
He was born June 3, 1950, in Parkersburg, West Virginia to parents William & Flossie (Adams) Bailey. A young lady named Susan Lease caught Beetle’s eye and the pair soon married on August 23, 1969. Sue and Beetle were married for 54 years and raised two daughters together.
Beetle worked for General Hone and later Ohio Tool Works for 25 years and retired as a maintenance supervisor in 2012.
A true maintenance man, Beetle could build and fix anything and loved to restore old cars. He also enjoyed playing cards, but only when he was winning, traveling with Sue around the US, flipping houses, and spending time with his grandkids. Beetle was known for his hard work, support of family, and his generosity. He provided all of his kids and grandkids with their first car, which meant a lot to him.
He is survived by his loving wife Sue Bailey; his daughters Mistina Bailey and Kristina Hickey; his grandchildren Amanda Eglin, Joshua Berr, and Jeffrey Hickey; his siblings Richard (Janice) Bailey of Loudonville, Ray (Patsy) Bailey of West Salem, Earl (Lillie) Bailey of Des Moines, IA, Shirley Ring of Danville, Carolyn Kramer of Ashland, Paul (Yolanda) Bailey of Danville, Virginia (Roland) Studer of Loudonville, and Carl “Chub” Bailey of West Salem; and many, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Beetle was preceded in death by his brothers Kenneth and Roger Bailey; his sister and her husband Sharon & Lacy Taylor; and his brothers-in-law Robert Kramer and John Ring.
The Bailey family will receive friends Friday, July 5, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel, Loudonville. A funeral service will occur immediately at 1 p.m. and burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
