Mary Lou Dever, age 96 of Mansfield, passed away on July 18, 2024 at Kingston of Ashland. Born in Lorain, Ohio on May 25, 1928 the daughter of Fred and Rachel (Anderson) Caley, Mary Lou was one of eleven children graduating from Savanah High School as Class Valedictorian. She had been an Ashland County resident most of her life where she was a homemaker.
Mary Lou was married to George Dever on September 6, 1953. Her husband preceded her in death on June 15, 2009. Marylou was active in the Hayesville Community and Hillsdale Schools for many years, she was an avid reader and puzzler. She also enjoyed golfing and bowling with her husband, visiting with family and friends and the Cleveland Indians. Mary Lou’s dry sense of humor and sharp wit will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are four children; Anne Dever of Mansfield, Doug (Gena) Dever of Mansfield, Ben (Janine) Dever of Maine and Matthew (Georgette) Dever of Kentucky.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Stephanie, Andrew, Nicholas, Zachary, Katie and Mary and two great-grandchildren, Reilly and Lillian. Marylou is survived by two sisters, Rachel Pratt and Dorothy Layos both of Sandusky.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 24, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Heyl Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Dickman officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home from 10:00 am till 11:00 am
Burial will follow in the Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville, Ohio.
