Shirley Claypool (née Braden), born on December 17, 1946, passed away on July 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She lived a life full of love, joy, and dedication to her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her devoted husband, Wayne Claypool Sr., with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Their bond was a testament to true love and partnership, weathering life’s storms and celebrating its joys together. Together, they raised three children who carry on her legacy of love and strength: Wayne (Joni) Claypool Jr., Chet (Nicole) Claypool, and Natalie (Brian) Kocher. Each of her children brought immense pride and joy to her life, and she cherished the moments spent with them.
She was the cherished grandmother of Quintan (Sierra) Kocher and Dimitri (Ariel) Kocher, and a proud great-grandmother to Qarsten Kocher, Hunter Kocher, Logan Kocher, and Qendrix Kocher. Shirley’s love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds. She delighted in their achievements and was always there to offer a listening ear, a warm hug, and words of wisdom.
Shirley is also survived by her beloved sister Patricia Kopylchak and her brother David Braden, along with his wife Terri. Family was always at the center of Shirley’s world, and her siblings held a special place in her heart. She cherished the memories they created together and the unbreakable bond they shared.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Barbara Braden, whose memory she honored throughout her life. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amanda Kocher, whose loss she deeply mourned.
In 2016, Shirley was diagnosed with breast cancer and bravely fought to overcome it. Her courage and resilience were an inspiration to all who knew her. She faced her diagnosis with grace and strength, never losing her spirit or determination. Tragically, the cancer returned and metastasized in 2022, ultimately leading to her passing. Through it all, Shirley remained a beacon of hope and positivity for her family and friends.
Shirley’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a unique ability to make everyone she met feel special and loved. Her kindness and compassion touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. The family invites all who knew and loved Shirley to join in celebrating her life at the Heyl Funeral Home on a date to be determined.
