Richard E. Bright, 65

Richard E. Bright, 65 of Ashland passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at University Hospital Samaritan Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 15, 1958 in Ashland the son of the late George and Clara (nee Benner) Bright.

Richard graduated from Mapleton High School, Class of 1977.

Throughout his life, he has enjoyed collecting many things, but mostly farm toys and coins. He was a member of the Ashland Coin Club and Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by one brother, Robert (Barbara) Bright of Ashland; a sister, Sharon (Donald) Snyder of Savannah; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Bright of Loudonville; his beloved pugs, Sam and Ralph; seven nieces and nephews, Marshall (Teresa) Snyder, Tracey (Roger) Sheaffer, Jason (Amy) Bright, Melissa Snyder, Jake (Katie) Bright, Laura (Mike) Strong, and Melinda (Rome) Ames; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Bright; and a sister, Norma Jean Bright.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren with Reverend Tom Zuercher presiding. A meal and time of fellowship will follow at the church. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

The family of Richard wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at University Hospital for the excellent care and compassion that he received during his stay.
