Vera Morgan Knowlton, 95 of Ashland passed away early Saturday morning, August 3, 2024 with her family at her side.

She was born on September 23, 1928 in Ashland, the 10th child of the late Charles Oliver and Olive (nee Hardesty) Morgan.

Vera graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1946. She married the love of her life, Wilbert M. “Bill” Knowlton on July 2, 1948.

She retired after more than 23 years from Ashland City Schools as a cafeteria worker, where she was the manager of the Edison Elementary School Cafeteria. Vera was previously employed at Woolworths, Cottage Restaurant, and the Faultless Rubber Company.

Vera was a member of the First United Methodist Church, The Old Uniontown Quilt Guild and a devoted member of the Ashland Genealogical Society, Ohio Genealogy, Belmont County, Monroe County, Perry County Chapters, and Cumberland Trail Genealogical Society. She would often volunteer at Good Shepherd where she made many friends with both the residents and staff.

She is survived by one daughter, Tena (Stephen) Roepke of Findlay; a daughter-in-law, Karen Knowlton of Ashland; two grandchildren, Rachel (Demi Marshall) Roepke of Austin, Texas and Mark (Sophie) Roepke of Cincinnati; and one expected great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Vera is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bill, who passed away on September 13, 1995; her son, Merl Knowlton who passed away on January 20, 2022; six brothers, Harry, Clarence, James, Dwight, Dean, and Vernon Morgan; three sisters; Anna Ruth Morgan, Lela Stackhouse, and Goldie Gladys Park; and a sister-in-law, Edith Rinard.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Snyder presiding. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and directly after the service.

In lieu of flowers, Vera requested that memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland County OGS, P.O. Box 681, Ashland, OH 44805.
