Lena Jewell Ison, 91 of Ashland passed away on Sunday morning, September 8, 2024.
She was born on July 1, 1933 in Grahn, Kentucky, the daughter of the late William and Litha Mosier.
Lena married the love of her life, Ray L. Ison on July 26, 1951.
She retired after more than 21 years from Abbott Laboratories.
Lena was a devoted member of the Ashland Brethren in Christ Church. Throughout her life, she was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family. During the summers her and Ray loved to attend events at the Guy C. Myers Bandshell at Brookside Park and get togethers with friends and family.
She is survived by her two children, Bruce (Cathy) Ison of Mansfield and Beverly Martin of Ashland; four grandchildren, Anne Davis, Amber, Cory, and Jacob Ison; five great-grandchildren, Skylar, Hunter, Shelbi (Ben), Riley and Kylee Ison; two great-great-grandchildren, Raven and Aurora; one sister, Hazel Kitts of Ashland; and one brother, Lowell Mosier of Ashland.
In addition to her parents, Jewell is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years marriage, Ray L. Ison who passed away on December 30, 2013; one daughter, Raydena Ison; a grandson, Jamie Lee Mekoleske; son-in-law, Louie Martin; and family friend, Chuck Mekoleske.
The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Hospice of the Western Reserve for their care, especially Gretchen, Tara, Sonia, and Reggie; and to their neighbor, Susan for all of her help and love.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ashland Brethren in Christ Church with Pastor Keith Tyson presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
