John Willard Messner, born April 17, 1937, in Loudonville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 surrounded by family. He was the beloved son of Larry and Mary (McGuire) Messner, and grew up with strong family values of his hometown.
John was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. Alongside his wife Doris (Gosnell) Messner, he raised three sons and a daughter in Stow, Ohio where he built a life centered around love, family, and friendship. His children were his pride and joy, and he instilled in them the same values of hard work, dedication, and kindness that he lived by.
An avid golfer and passionate sportsman, John was happiest spending his days on the golf course, where he formed many close friendships and lifelong memories. His love for the game and the outdoors was only matched by his deep commitment to his family and his role as a proud grandfather.
John leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived. His family, friends, and all who knew him will remember him for his warm spirit, unwavering dedication, and the countless moments of joy he brought into their lives.
He is survived by his children, John (Alisa) Messner, Jim (Jessica) Messner, Daniel (Ashley) Messner, Katie (Messner) Chris) Collins and 10 grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Mary Messner his sisters Donna Workman and Wanda Koppert and brothers-in-law Bob Workman, Duane Koppert and Chuck Ziegler.
Calling hours will be held at Snyder Funeral Homes 123 North Market St Loudonville, OH 44842 on Sunday, Oct 6th from 4-6 P.M.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 46 Co Rd 2575, Lakeville, OH 44638 on Monday Oct 7th at 10:00 A.M. where family and friends are invited to honor his memory.
