Dale E. Braden, 76
Dale E. Braden, 76 of Ashland passed away peacefully Friday, October 4, 2024, in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born on January 21, 1948, in Ashland the son of the late Scott and Gladys (nee Reynolds) Braden.
Dale graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1966. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a security policeman during the Vietnam Conflict, serving a year in Vietnam.
Dale married the former Sue McClurg on September 16, 1967.
Throughout his life he was a dedicated fan of Cleveland sports teams and The Ohio State University. He especially loved listening to The Ohio State Marching Band. He enjoyed watching and playing golf, playing in a league for many years. Dale also bowled in a league at Luray Lanes. Many know Dale from his over 40 years as a meatcutter at Gerwig’s White Barn Market. He was known for his kind smile, infectious laughter, quick wit and playful sense of humor.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 57 years of marriage, Mrs. Sue Braden of Ashland; three children, Stephanie (Randy) Lamp of Massillon, Kristi (Travis) Tanner of Centerville, and Scott Braden of Ashland; nine grandchildren, Stephen and Anna Drzik of Massillon, Keaton, Ewan and Cora Tanner of Centerville, Rylee Braden of Shreve, Zack Drzik of New Franklin, Randy (Jamie Fullen) Lamp of Massillon, Matthew Lamp of Massillon, and two great grandchildren, Vanessa and Charlotte Lamp of Massillon.
In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by three sisters, Donna (Joe) Speigle, Norma (Jim) Smith, and Mary (Don) Ross.
A Celebration of Dale’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Legacy Room of the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. An interment service will follow in the Imhoff Cemetery where the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors and prayers of committal will be offered.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Ashland County Cancer Association.
