MANSFIELD:  Trenton “Trent” Michael Gallaway, age 20 passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024 after sustaining injuries in a tragic roadway accident.

He was born May 21, 2004 in Ashland to Michael and Jennifer (Beard) Gallaway and graduated in 2023 from Lucas High School in conjunction with Pioneer Career and Technology Center.  He was active in FFA and 4-H and dabbled in youth sports.

From an early age, Trent learned the meaning of hard work and the value of a dollar, as he began working as a farmhand at Culler Farms, beginning with picking up rocks in the fields, to tending cattle and driving trucks, Trent did it all.  Most recently, he was working for the Richland County Highway Department, beginning in 2023 as seasonal employment and working hard to secure a permanent full time position.  He enjoyed his work, the camaraderie he found in his fellow workers, and set lofty goals for himself saving every dime to purchase his dream and joy realized, a GMC Denali.

A lifelong member of Grace Bible Church, Trent’s heart was dedicated to Jesus.  He was a faithful attendee on Sunday, at Bible Study and could frequently be found alongside his father and brother working on various projects around the church.  He was active in AWANA Kids, youth group and was so very pleased to join his church brothers and sisters in Christ on special missions trips.

Trent was a man’s man and was passionate about all things outdoors.  He enjoyed camping with his family, bow hunting in the fall, off-roading in his Razor or old jeep, and cruising on a Harley. Fearless and adventurous he was up for anything, even skydiving! Along with his brother, Bo, Trent liked pumping iron and was interested in all things red, white and blue!

Though he was shy and quiet as a boy, Trent had found his voice and confidence as he came into adulthood.  He was easy to talk to and supportive, but fierce in protecting those he loved.  All rough and tough, he loved fooling around and poking fun at his friends and family, but also had a head full of morals, responsibility, and championing others.

He is survived by his parents Michael and Jennifer Gallaway, brother Bo Gallaway, sister Shanique Frailey Gallaway, paternal grandparents Duane Gallaway, Peggy (Howard) Keller, maternal grandparents Steve and Marsha Beard, maternal great-grandmother Paige Waeiss, his sweetheart and promised Morgan Guegold, aunts and uncles Matt (Katie) Gallaway, Miranda (Steve Bechtler) Gallaway, Chris (Josh) Beard, cousins Annie Gallaway and and Carter Gallaway, along with extended family, and friends.

Trent was preceded in death by paternal great-grandparents Owen and Marjorie Gallaway and Marion and Thema Hartsel, maternal grandparents William Beard and Francis and Agnes Lambert.

The Gallaway’s will host visitation Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 4-8 pm in Lucas Grace Bible Church, 67 W. Main Street, Lucas, and also Wednesday, from 11 am to 1 pm where the funeral service will follow at 1 pm.  Pastor Wayne Presnell will officiate and the burial, with the procession lead by his own pick up truck will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Lucas.

Contributions in honor of Trent may be made to American Traffic Safety Services (ATSS) or the National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF).
