OLIVESBURG — Mapleton scored first and last, but Crestview scored 40 points in-between those touchdowns to earn a 40-14 Firelands Conference victory in Friday night’s regular-season finale at Olivesburg.

The victory clinches a playoff berth for the Cougars.

The Mounties jumped on top 7-0 midway through the first period, but Bransen Hider evened it with a 10-yard rushing touchdown near at the end of the first quarter.

Ayden Reymer’s 5-yard scoring run in the second period gave the Cougars a 14-7 margin they would keep for good.

Liam Kuhn’s 7-yard TD jaunt and 35-yard scoring pass to Karter Goon expanded the spread to 26-7 at halftime.

Nolan Moore’s 12-yard touchdown blast goosed the margin to 33-7, and Kuhn’s 60-yard TD pass to Nolan Moore completed the barrage.

Mapleton’s Colton Wittman notched an 11-yard touchdown run in the final period.

The Mounties finished the regular season 4-6 overall, 3-4 in the conference.

Crestview improves to 5-5 overall, 5-2 in the Firelands. The Cougars will learn their playoff assignment on Sunday.
