Byron M. “Mac” Bright, 93 of Ashland passed away Wednesday morning, November 13, 2024, in Lutheran Village with his wife and family at his side.

He was born on July 30, 1931, in Ashland County; the son of the late Byron Wilson and Mary Elizabeth (nee McFadden) Bright.

Mac graduated from Sullivan High School, Class of 1949. He proudly served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict.

It was on November 14, 1954, he married the love of his life the former Rosemary Kiplinger.

Mac retired from the United States Postal Service in 1996. He was previously employed by Gilbert Furniture Company as a carpet and drapery installer and Automatic Welding Company. Aside from his daytime job, Mac always worked on his farm at night and on the weekends.

He was a devoted member of Grace Brethren Church. In his retirement years, Mac proudly served on the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard providing military honors to ladies and gentlemen, like him, who honorably served. Mac loved music so much that he not only played but made his own instruments. He enjoyed playing the dulcimer, mandolin, and the banjo.

Mac is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mrs. Rosemary Bright of Ashland; three children, Brad (Amy) Bright, Bill (Kimberly) Bright, and Laura Galleher; five grandchildren, Tim (Jessica) Bright, Kim (Dave) Wolbert, Jim (Casey) Bright, Ryan (Marguerite) Galleher, and Shannon (Taylor) Brown, eleven great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan, Alex, David, Adam, Selah, Kenley, Jack, Meredith, Willow, and Oakley; and two great-great grandchildren, Samuel and Leon.

In addition to his parents, Mac is preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph (Ethel) Bright and Ned (Wilma) Bright.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Kelley presiding. The Ashland Veterans Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Following the service, a meal and time of fellowship will be held in the Legacy Room of the funeral home.

Family and friends may visit two hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard, 313 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
