ASHLAND — Ashland High School graduate Tyler Davis became the newest officer in the Ashland Division of Police on Monday.

Davis said he is committed to his new role with the City of Ashland.

New Ashland Police officer Tyler Davis takes his oath of office on Monday.

“I grew up in Ashland and I care about the community. I feel like I am supposed to be here.”

Mayor Matt Miller administered the oath of office to Davis, a United States Marine Corps veteran. He completed the Police Academy at North Central State College in August.

The Ashland Police Division is his first appointment as a peace officer.

Over the next four months, Officer Davis will be working closely with field training officers to learn organizational procedures while becoming more familiar with operations.

With the addition of Officer Davis, the Division currently employs 30 full-time police officers.
