Charles E. “Chuck” Hackworth Jr., 78 of Ashland passed from this life on Monday morning, January 6, 2025 in Crystal Care of Ashland.
He was born on July 22, 1946 in Ironton, Ohio the son of the late Charles Hackworth and Thelma (nee Walizer).
Chuck graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1965. Following his graduation, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
He married the love of his life, the former Dixie J. Snader on October 1, 1965.
Chuck retired after more than 30 years from Ashland City Schools where he was a custodian, first at the high school and later at Ashland Middle School. He was previously employed at HYCO Manufacturing for many years.
He was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church and Harry Higgins Post 88 of the American Legion.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. Dixie Hackworth of Ashland; one son, Scott (Melissa) Hackworth of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and their children, Chuck’s granddaughters, Paige and Meadow Hackworth; Chuck’s grandson, Mikael (Amy) Hawk of Murrieta, California, and their son, Chuck’s great-grandson, Kody Hawk, and grandson, Kyle Hackworth; two sisters, Sally (Ray) Pratt of Mansfield and Peggy (Mike) Hunt of Ashland; one brother, Charles (Terry) Hackworth of Timpson, Texas; and two sisters-in-law, Jeri (Douglas) Clever and Reta (Jim) Rogers all of Ashland; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Chuck is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma (Fred) Knapp; two daughters, Tracy Roberts and Jeannie Hackworth; and Dixie’s parents, Glenn and Joan Snader.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Austin Rissler presiding. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 210 Davis Road, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1021 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
