April Kay (Poston) Shank, 66
April Kay Shank, 66 of Ashland passed from this life on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 unexpectedly in her home.
She was born on June 8, 1958 in Ashland, the daughter of James “Jim” and Carol (nee Thompson) Icenhour.
April graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1977.
She retired in July of 2024 from Brethren Care Village where she was employed for numerous years in housekeeping. April previously worked as an STNA in home healthcare and other facilities in Ashland. She was a caregiver in every true sense of the word in her own home and at work.
April was a devoted member of the Ashland Church of Nazarene all her life.
In her spare time, she loved reading the bible and listening to Christian music. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters, Krystal Smith of Ashland, Brandy (Josh) Hettinger of Greenwich, and Amber Shank of Ashland; her mother, Carol Icenhour of Ashland; six grandchildren, A. J. Hensley, Brian Hensley Jr., Gavin Smith, Lacey Shank, Terrell Shank, and Darius Shank-Whitfield; one brother, Allen (Cathy) Icenhour of Cincinnati; two aunts, Patsy Briggs of Ashland and Ellawayne Thompson of Ashland; and two uncles, D. Duane (Sharon) Thompson of Alliance and Gaylord Thompson of Ashland.
April is preceded in death by her father, James Icenhour; her brother, Melvin David Poston; her aunts, Norma Jean Dickinson, Lawana Roberts and Amber Thompson; and her uncles, Lamont, Larry, and Milo “Jack” Thompson.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ashland Church of the Nazarene, 1196 Township Road 1506, Ashland, OH 44805 with Reverend Dave Langdon presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Church of the Nazarene.
