ASHLAND — Got a 5-year-old or soon-to-be 5-year-old at home?

Well, if you do, it’s time to start thinking about enrolling them in kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year.

Ashland County’s four public school districts are either accepting registrations or scheduling appointments to go through the enrollment process starting this month.

Children must turn 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 to attend kindergarten at all the public districts in the county.

Details about each district’s enrollment process are below.

Ashland City Schools

Ashland City Schools’ kindergarten enrollment takes place March 3 through 6 at Reagan Elementary School, but parents need to make an appointment to enroll their students.

Parents can call 419-289-7967 between Feb. 3 to 28 to schedule an appointment.

Ashland City Schools is going through an elementary school reconfiguration, set to take place during the 2025-2026 academic year. All kindergartners in the district will attend Reagan Elementary School next school year.

School district officials have said kindergarten enrollment was lower than usual for the 2024-2025 school year.

Hillsdale Local Schools

At Hillsdale, kindergarten registration will take place by appointment on Feb. 27 and March 4. Appointments will be scheduled between 3:15 and 6:15 p.m. on those two dates.

To set up an appointment, parents should contact Angie Sigler at 419-368-4364 or asigler@hillsdalelocalschools.org.

Parents should bring the following documents to their registration appointments:

  • Birth certificate
  • Parent photo ID
  • Proof of residency
  • Immunization records
  • ETR/IEP or 504 plan/evaluation (if applicable)
  • Custody/adoption papers (if applicable)

Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village Schools

Registration at Loudonville-Perrysville Schools is a two-step process.

First, the district asks parents to complete Final Forms. Once Final Forms is complete, parents should reach out to enrollment coordinator Tia Bowman to schedule an appointment and complete the enrollment process.

Bowman can be reached at 419-994-3912, option 4.

The district also has kindergarten screening available by appointment. That will take place at Zion Lutheran Church on April 25.

Mapleton Local Schools

Cassie Swanson, Mapleton Elementary School’s principal, said kindergarten registration begins in the district in early February.

Families will enroll using Final Forms, where they’ll be asked to upload a copy of their child’s birth certificate, current immunization records and proof of residence, such as a utility bill.

Once parents complete the Final Forms process, they’ll need to schedule a kindergarten screening time. Screening will take place in April. Parents can schedule a time by calling the elementary office at 419-945-2188.
