ASHLAND — One of the highlights of my Thursdays comes early in the morning, when I spend time with Ashland University students on WRDL, the school’s student-run radio station.
Each week, Ashland Source sends in two stories. The hosts of Early Bird’s Word — Katelyn Meeks, John Keim and Cade Cracas — pepper us with questions about them.
This week, our conversation focused on workforce development. I shared the following stories with them:
We talked about the stories themselves. I also peeled back the curtain and revealed part of my reporting process, sharing how I heard about each of these stories, and what type of research I did before writing them.
I was excited to tell them how my previous reporting on the topic of workforce development equipped me to tell these stories.
Specifically, Ethan Karp’s speech about the challenges facing the manufacturing industry touched on several themes we explored in our “Tomorrow’s Talent” series last year.
