Lena Mae Elswick age 82, of Ashland passed away on February 17, 2025 surrounded by her family at her residence.
Born in Sutton, West Virginia on July 13, 1942, the daughter of Daniel D. and Mary (Beckner) Hollandsworth, she had been a resident of Ashland County most of her life. She had been employed at Kent Sporting Goods until the time of her retirement. Lena enjoyed spending time with her grand babies, reading, window shopping and loved coffee.
Lena was married to John Elswick who precedes her in death.
She is survived by four children; Julia L. Elswick of Ashland, Laura Mae (Randy) Flinders of Virginia, Christa D. (Jeffery) Duncan of Ashland, long time friend of the family, David Beach and John D. (Jenni) Elswick of Polk.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and two brothers; Barbara Warner of Ashland, Louella J. (Gary) Shonkwiler of Alabama, William L. (Joann) Hollandsworth of Columbus, Ohio and Ralph E. Hollandsworth of Rapid City, South Dakota.
In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Robert D. Hollandsworth, Ray Hollandsworth, Joseph Hollandsworth and Kenneth Hollandsworth. One grandson, Johnny Allen Elswick-Duncan also precedes her in death.
Funeral services will be held on February 27, 2025 at 12:00 pm at the Heyl Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on February 27, 2025 from 10:00 am till 12:00 am. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Sullivan Cemetery.
