Sonja L. Humburg, 79 of Ashland passed away, Wednesday evening, March 19, 2025 in Kingston of Ashland.

She was born on November 27, 1945 in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Paul and Nellie (nee Akers) Synuria.

Sonja graduated from Brownsville High School, Class of 1964.

She was a homemaker all of her life.

Sonja was a devoted member of the Mt. Zion Church of God. She was affectionately known by her family as “blankets by nana”, as she created beautiful blankets for her entire family. She also enjoyed making jewelry and crafting.

All throughout her life, Sonja was a giving woman who volunteered her time cleaning homes for disabled people.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert L. Humburg of Ashland; three children, Patricia (Larry) Martinez of Wooster, John W. (Lisa) Burleson of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Tabitha (Jeanie) Myers of Martinsburg, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Elisabeth Johnson of Van Wert, Curtis (Matt) Newcombe of Willoughby, Cassey Johnson of Sullivan, Caleb (Ashley Printz) Burleson of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Krystal Champion of Bakersfield, California; three great-granddaughters; and her siblings, Ida Arenson, Mable Barber, Louise Harden and August Synuria.

In addition to her parents, Sonja is preceded in death by one brother, Paul Synuria.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the Mt. Zion Church of God, 837 S Geyers Chapel Rd, Wooster, OH 44691 with Bishop Larry Martinez presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion Church of God.
