ASHLAND — The Ashland FFA hosted the second District 2 Floriculture Career Development Event welcoming 12 area schools and 79 students on March 27.
In this contest students demonstrate their skills in flower arranging, propagation and problem solving.
Students participated in flower and material identification, placing classes of arrangements, parts per million calculations and a corsage making station.
Mrs. Mary Cox coordinated the contest with the assistance of the Floral Design Class and then served as the corsage judge. Volunteers Charlotte McNaull, Lora Tyson and Julie McNaull were also very appreciated.
The Ashland FFA had the top five individuals and was the 1st place team. Leading the team was Haley McNaull in 1st, Elise Frazer in 2nd, Cailin Wolfe in 3rd, Chloe McFrederick in 4th and Hannah McNaull in 5th.
Other participants included Sydney Spellman in 9th and Hadley Bechtol in 10th, Allie Heckman and Starrlyn Duffey.
We are so proud of our team and all their hard work. Haley McNaull, Elise Frazer, Cailin Wolfe and Chloe McFrederick will represent the Ashland FFA Chapter at the state floriculture contest on April 7.
