Brooke DaHinden, 82 of Ashland passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in Ashland, Ohio.

She was born on April 16th, 1943, in Alliance to the late Kenneth A. and Jean (nee Stevens) Harlan.

Following her graduation from Massillon High School, Brooke went on to further a career as a Stenographer for Republic Steel, before becoming a medical receptionist.

Brooke married the love of her life, Dean R. DaHinden, on May 16, 1964.

She was a devoted member of the Christ United Methodist Church, where she attended Sunday school, “New Beginnings” class for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Pyramid Chapter in Toledo, Ohio and of the Welcome Wagon Club in Ashland. Throughout her life, she was an avid card player, playing canasta, bridge, and euchre in social groups where she made lifelong friendships. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed by so many.

Brooke is survived by her three daughters, Kristin P. (Michael) Kane of Hudson, Dr. Dawn L. (Ron) Bookmyer of Powell, and Corey A. (Rick) Griffith of Ashland; one son, Chad R. (Anne) DaHinden of Ashland; nine grandchildren, Leah (Alex) Walker, Lauren (Derek) Hill, Steven (fiancé Sarah Kratt) Chalet, Tyler and Emily Bookmyer, Noah Griffith, Brooke (Drake) Temple, and Emma and Evan DaHinden; two great grandchildren, Callahan Scott Hill and Caroline Elaine Walker; one brother, Courtney (Carol) Harlan of Seville; and one sister, Shawn (Rick) Buzard of Massillon.

In addition to her parents, Brooke is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Dean who passed from this life on June 28. 2018; and a great-granddaughter, Adaline Paige Hill who passed away on July 10, 2024.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the Christ United Methodist Church with Reverend Tom Snyder presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland County Memorial Park. A meal and time of fellowship will follow in the fellowship hall at the church. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1140 Claremont Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to the American Cancer Society.
