Mary Jane Lautzenhiser, 84

Mary Jane Lautzenhiser, 84 of Ashland passed away from this life, late Friday evening, April 25, 2025 in the Good Shepherd Nursing and Skilled Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on December 4, 1940 in Ashland the daughter of the late William and Ethel (née Craven) Cooner.

Mary Jane graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1958.

She was employed as a medical office manager and retired in 1998.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed wedding cake decorating and played music at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. She also proudly served as a volunteer EMT on the Mifflin Fire Department for many years. Mary Jane was the first woman in Ashland County to be an EMT.

She is survived by three sons, Randy (Cindy) Jackenheimer of Ashland, Rod (Peggy Butler) Jackenheimer of Ashland, and Ray (Conniejo) Jackenheimer of Mansfield; and two granddaughters, Katie Jackenheimer of Ashland and Jessica Hawkins of Edgerton; and two great-granddaughters, Anastasia and Serena Hawkins of Edgerton.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lautzenhiser who passed away in 2012; and one brother, William Cooner.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Fred Thomas presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mifflin Fire Department.
