ASHLAND — Ashland County commissioners agreed to sponsor a $750,000 federal grant application on behalf of Savannah for various projects the village wants to complete.
The neighborhood revitalization grant, if approved, will fund a number of projects Savannah officials want to tackle in the coming years, said Bruce Richards, the village’s administrator.
Below is a list of the projects mentioned by Richards.
- Installing a permanent structure for a restroom and an electronic sign at Savannah Academy Park.
- Widening of Haney Street’s apron at U.S. Route 250 and other improvements.
- More sidewalks on Bailey Street.
- Installing an electronic crossing beacon in town at a school bus stop.
- Installing basketball and pickleball courts
Richards also said a portion of the $750,000 grant would cover the village’s matching requirement for a separate grant to the Ohio Department of Transportation that has yet been awarded.
Neighborhood revitalization grants are funded through the Community Development Block Grants program under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
