Kathleen “Kitty” Honaker, 91 of Ashland passed from this life and joined her husband in heaven on Thursday, June 19, 2025 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.

She was born on September 6, 1933 in Nashville, Ohio the daughter of the late Glenn and Helen (nee Tharpe) Shank.
Kitty graduated from high school in 1951.

She married the love of her life, Howard Bennett Honaker on June 14, 1952. They were inseparable all of their marriage. After Howard’s passing, friends would often comment that it didn’t seem right seeing one and not the other. Kitty proudly served as a homemaker all of her life. She had a most blessed life; Kitty often said, “Who can ask for more with a life like this?”

She was an active member of the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Kitty excelled in bowling and golf where she won many tournaments and awards.

Kitty and Howard were blessed with their children, who survive, David F. Honaker of Ashland, Richard L. (Sandra L.) Honaker of Trevor, WI., Pamela (Tim) Tegtmeier of Wooster, and Randy (Lisa) Honaker of Westerville; her 10 grandchildren, Chad Honaker, Jeffrey Honaker, Hayley VanWormer, Heather Lewis, Andrew Honaker, Allison Honaker, Abigail Rathmann, Ashleigh Malec, Christy Gray and Jon Tegtmeier; along with her 30 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Kitty was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 66 years together, Howard Honaker who passed away from this life on August 1, 2018; and her siblings, Olus Shank and Norma Jean Clantz.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the Wellness Center at Brethren Care Village, 2140 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Pastor Dean Pierce presiding. Following the service a meal and time of fellowship will be served. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends and family may visit with the family two hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Brethren Care Village.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kitty’s name to the Cat House Feline Sanctuary Inc. 1130 E. Main St., Box 136 Ashland, Ohio 44805.
