ASHLAND — The 35th annual Ashland Balloonfest kicks off this weekend at Freer Field.
This year’s festival has a couple new additions, including Balloonfest merchandise featuring the new logo.
More food vendors have been added to the list this year, as well as some changes to the kids zone. Kid kites donated by Eva’s Treasts will be available at the information tent Friday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday will also feature kids bingo and balloon coloring from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the VIP tent.
The festivities will continue Saturday morning with the 5K kicking off at 9 a.m., followed by a kite show from The Great American Kites from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thirty one pilots will showcase their hot air balloons this year, including 22 pilots from Ohio.
Kristin Flickinger, who handles media relations for the Ashland Balloonfest, said they like to have around 30 balloons for the festival.
“We could not have this event without all of our amazing sponsors and our volunteer committee that works so hard for this event,” Flickinger said.
The Ashland Balloonfest runs from June 26 to June 29.
