ASHLAND — You don’t often find two distinct entertainment sects compared. But that’s how Andrea Gatlin describes Gatlin.

“Grand Ole Opry meets the Phantom of the Opera” one-half of the Gatlin duo said of the show’s atmosphere.

Darryl and Andrea Gatlin, a married duo with deep roots in the music world, will take the stage at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, at the Ashland Theater.

Tickets are available here. The seating for the show includes pit, floor, box and balcony all priced at $25.

Darryl grew up in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, (the same hometown as Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath).

Darryl began singing with his brother at an early age. They went on to gain success in Nashville, recording two albums with Sony/Epic Records — as well as receiving a nomination for Country Music Duo of the Year for five consecutive years.

Andrea grew up in Marion, Ohio. She is a graduate of Ashland University with a bachelor of music degree. She majored in music education with a vocal emphasis.

Since then, her voice has taken her to stages around the world.

Shaping a performance that blends genres

Together, the two have combined their dynamic voices and diverse musical backgrounds to create an exciting live show.

“Reflecting on our diverse musical backgrounds, we decided to blend our respective styles to create the show we will be performing Aug. 15,” Andrea Gatlin said.

Forming in late 2007, the duo was initially based out of Ohio. In the spring of 2015, they made the move to southwest Florida.

They travel during the summer to Ohio and surrounding states, performing at dinner shows, cruises, weddings and more.

“Thankfully, we have had enough demand for our performances that we are completing our 17th year performing together full-time. We are very grateful for that,” Gatlin said.

Chris Skinner, executive director for The Ashland Theater, said the venue was glad to find a date when Gatlin came north for the yearly summer tour.

“We’ve known Gatlin’s name, and they’ve been on the wishlist as the duo’s reputation precedes them.” Skinner said. “Darryl, with his country career success and Grand Ole Opry appearances, and Andrea, with her local roots and marvelous talent.”
