COLUMBUS — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Wednesday he has agreed to a request to keep Ohio National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., until Nov. 30.
DeWine said the request was made by the Secretary of the Army through the National Guard Bureau to continue supporting the District of Columbia National Guard.
While some of the Ohio National Guard members will be rotated, Ohio will continue to provide 150 military police to carry out presence patrols, the governor said.
None of these military police members are currently serving as law enforcement officers in the state of Ohio, DeWine said.
