APPLE CREEK — Hillsdale quarterback Kael Lewis has put up some eye-popping numbers this year, and Friday night’s performance at Waynedale enhanced his totals.

The Falcons’ junior threw for 283 yards, 107 of those to Hayden McFadden on 10 receptions, to lead coach Trevor Cline’s club to a 45-13 Wayne County Athletic League victory.

Owen Sloan put his team on top 7-0 in the first quarter with a 1-yard touchdown dive.

But Hillsdale really opened it up in the second period.

Lewis tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Knox Lewis, and a 46-yard scoring strike to Brock Bower. A.J. Brown’s 28-yard field goal made it 24-0 at halftime.

Kael Lewis aired out a 39-yard touchdown strike to McFadden in the third quarter to begin the running clock.

The Golden Bears got on the board at that point, courtesy of a 14-yard TD pass from Maddox Kidd to Micah Raber.

Yet Kael Lewis broke free on a 13-yard touchdown dash to make it 38-7 heading to the final 12 minutes.

Waynedale’s Jayden Hochstetler bolted 5 yards for a score to close the gap to 38-13, but Aiden Hoffman’s 29-yard touchdown finished the scoring.

The Falcons are now 7-0 overall, 4-0 and atop the WCAL standings. Hillsdale travels to Northwestern next week.
