Betty Lou Scott, 84 of Sullivan, passed away Monday evening on October 13th 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Betty was born on May 7th 1941 in Vanceburg, KY to Albert Floyd and Helen Louise (nee Mahaffey) Hyrne.
She graduated high school in Vanceburg, class of 1959. She married and had three children with her first husband. She later reconnected with her childhood friend, Ernest Scott, and moved to Sullivan where they had 18 wonderful years before his passing in 2010.
Betty worked for US Shoe in Vanceburg for over 10 years and later worked for the Walmart Corporation in Ashland for over 25 years before retirement.
She was especially proud of her three children who served in the US Armed Forces.
In her free time, Betty loved gardening, planting flowers, and sewing. She was known for making many of her own clothes and even prom gowns and wedding dresses. Betty also loved reading romance novels and watching Hallmark movies, especially the Christmas ones year-round. You would also find her listening to country music.
Betty loved meeting new people and keeping in touch with friends and family.
She is survived by her children; Tim (Pam) Weber of Foley, AL, and Mary Weber of Sullivan; her daughter-in-law, Becky Weber of Vanceburg, KY; her grandchildren, Samantha Williams, Jeremy (Nicole) Weber, Mathew Weber, Bethany Weber, Julie (Taylor) Callahan, and Jacob Weber; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; her sons, Tom and Christopher Weber; and son-in-law, Mike Strohmenger.
