NANKIN — On Saturday, Nov. 1, Mapleton FFA member Eastyn Rohr achieved one of the highest honors an FFA member can earn — the American FFA Degree — during the 98th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Eastyn began her FFA journey as a freshman in 2020 and has spent the last five years building an impressive record of leadership, skill development, and hands-on agricultural experience.

Her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) centered around working with her family at Rohr’s Deer Processing, where she developed an interest in meat science and processing.

After graduating from Mapleton High School, Eastyn continued to grow her experience by joining the team at 3-D Meats in Dalton, Ohio.

In addition to her SAE, Eastyn was a dedicated competitor in the Meat Evaluation Career Development Event (CDE) under the guidance of Coach Dave Bishop, studying for multiple years and competing at the state level.

Her leadership extended beyond competition as well — she served the Mapleton FFA Chapter as an officer for several years, including as Chapter President during the 2022-23 school year.

Eastyn’s achievement marks a historic milestone for the Mapleton FFA Chapter. According to chapter records, she is the first member since 2011 to earn the American FFA Degree, breaking a 14-year gap and setting a new standard of excellence for current and future members.

The American FFA Degree recognizes members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA and made significant accomplishments in their supervised agricultural experiences, leadership, and community involvement.

Eastyn’s hard work and dedication reflect the true spirit of FFA and serve as an inspiration to Mapleton students and the community alike.
