Hanoverton United showed it was ready to play, using an early thrust to carve out a 7-0 advantage over Smithville as the first quarter ended.
The Smithies’ offense darted in front for a 14-7 lead over the Golden Eagles at the intermission.
Smithville jumped to a 21-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Smithies chalked up this decision in spite of the Golden Eagles’ spirited fourth-quarter performance.
