Carrie Marcella Bates, 96, passed away after a long decline on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
She was born on December 18, 1928 in Ashland County, the daughter of Judson and Carrie (Wolbaugh) Wise.
She was a homemaker and had last attended Alamo Heights United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Ronald (Lynn) Bates of Pepper Pike, two daughters: Candace (Richard) Harbaugh of Chicago and Valerie (Robert) Martinez of San Antonio, 7 grandchildren: Mark Bates, Allison (Alejandro) Monzon, Caroline Bates and Andrew (Ariel) Bates; Hilary (Alexis) Blum, Jon Harbaugh, Mathew Bates, Ricco (Raquel) Martinez and Rachel Martinez; and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marlin Bates, a daughter Susan, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Private family services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday November 22, 2025 at Nankin Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Denbow-Gasche (Ashland) and Porter-Loring (San Antonio) assisted the family with arrangements.
