Mary Marie “Mimi” Shonkwiler, 90 of Ashland met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday morning, November 17, 2025 while at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

She was born on August 26, 1935 in Ashland, the daughter of the late Hayes Richard and Marie (nee Spreng) Price.

Mimi graduated from Ashland High School, class of 1953. She married the love of her life, Everett C. Shonkwiler on June 14, 1959.

Mimi was employed at Faultless Rubber Company for 12 years as an executive secretary. She retired from Ashland City Schools as a library aide after 25 years at Osborn Elementary School.

During her lifetime she served many years on the American Heart Association Chapter in Ashland. Mimi was also involved with the Mid-Ohio Sound Chapter of Sweet Adelines for more than 25 years. She was a life-long member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she remained active as a Sunday School Teacher, worked with the youth, secretary of church council, served on the prayer shawl ministry and sang in the church choir for 64 years. Mimi was also a volunteer at Ashland Christian School, and she cherished the time she spent there with the loving staff and students. Following her retirement, she was known as Everett’s tax secretary and scheduled all his tax clients appointments.

She is survived by one son, Todd, (Glenda) Shonkwiler of Ashland; her granddaughter, Madison, (Colin) Hillman of Ashland; nieces, Cherie (Reverend Kevin) Whitmore and Cindy (Stacey) Himes; and great nieces and nephews, Brandon, Caitlin, and Jennifer.

In addition to her parents, Mimi is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Ev Shonkwiler who passed away on January 8, 2020; and one sister, Donna Jean Pickering who passed away on January 5, 2016.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at Ashland Cemetery on Friday November 21st at 10:00am with Reverend Ignatius David officiating and Colin Hillman sharing an invitation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ during the interment ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ashland Christian School.
