George E. VanDriest Sr. age 65 of Ashland, passed away on January 24, 2026 at his residence.
Born in Ashland on June 13, 1960 the son of Eddie and Shirley (Gross) VanDriest, he was a resident of Ashland County all of his life. George enjoyed watching Western Movies and was an avid fan of WWE Wrestling and Braun Strowman was his favorite wrestler.
George is survived by five children: George VanDriest Jr. (Cristin Beam) of Ashland, Damian VanDriest of Ashland, Vanessa VanDriest of Mansfield, Hope Ajian of Columbus and Crystal (Richard Mabry) of Mansfield. He is also survived by six siblings: Veronica (Jeff) Hicks of Ashland, Kitty (Dave) Leiter of Ashland, Ted VanDriest of Ashland, Rick VanDriest of Ashland, Evelyn (Doug) Bowen of Ashland and Wayne (Tanya) VanDriest of Ashland. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and on great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Ted and Laverne Kapiskosky and George VanDriest and Blanche Williams; nephew, Richard VanDriest and uncle and aunt, Zane and Ruth Gross.
Funeral Services will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church, 575 US Route 250 North, Savannah, Ohio 44874 at 11:00 am with Pastor John Bouquet officiating on Friday January 30, 2026. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am till 11:00 am at the church on Friday January 30, 2026.
