Minster took full advantage of overtime to defeat Smithville 58-50 for an Ohio boys basketball victory on Jan. 31.

Smithville showed it was ready to play, using an early thrust to carve out a 14-8 advantage over Minster as the first quarter ended.

The Wildcats’ offense moved in front for a 22-20 lead over the Smithies at the intermission.

Smithville showed its teeth in the third quarter by rallying to within 33-32.

Nothing was decided in the final quarter, with the Wildcats and the Smithies locked in a 46-46 stalemate.

Minster got the better of the first overtime-period scoring, finishing the game in style with a 12-4 edge.
