Jackie Lee Taylor, Sr., 86 of Sullivan passed from this life on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
He was born on February 28, 1939, in Clendening, West Virginia, the son of the late French and Iilah (nee Garrett) Taylor.
Jackie married the love of his life to the former Hazel Lea McCune on March 9, 1961.
He retired after more than 30 years in the mid 90’s from the General Motors Corporation.
He was a member of Rochester Baptist Church, and prior member of the Sullivan Lions Club and Polk Lions Club. Throughout his life he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family meant everything to him.
He loved his weekly trips to the Lyn-Way, affectionately known to him as the Midway.
Jackie is survived by his sons, Jackie “Pete” Taylor of Sullivan and James “Jay” (Karen) Taylor of Ashland; his son-in-law, Hugh Michailides of Sullivan; grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan Tracy) Cowhick of Sullivan, Justin Taylor of Nova, Janice (Kyle) Moore of Ashland, Julie (Reuben Hostetler) of Wooster, Abbie (Jake) Pondage of Sullivan; great grandchildren, PJ Dubena of Sullivan, Avery and Taylor Esterline of Ashland, Memphis Hazel and Truman John Pondage of Sullivan; and a sister-in-law, Justine “Tina” (Tommy) Cox of North Carolina; his beloved k-9 companions, Spot and Prissy; and his numerous adopted grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jackie is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Hazel Taylor who passed away on December 1, 2021; and his daughter, Victoria Taylor on November 29, 2021.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Jeremy Peck presiding. Interment will follow in the Sullivan Southview Cemetery. Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rochester Baptist Church, 201 OH-511, Wellington, Ohio 44090.
