ASHLAND — Ashland’s historic winter didn’t go unnoticed — or unrewarded.

The Arrows won Ohio Cardinal Conference championships in both boys and girls basketball and they swept the District 6 awards, released Tuesday.

Paxon Ediger was selected the boys Division II/Division III Player of the Year, while Jason Hess was Coach of the Year.

On the girls side, Kennedy Lacey was the Division II/Division III Player of the Year and Renee Holt was Coach of the Year.

A senior, Ediger averaged 23.6 points a game. He set Ashland’s single-game record when he scored 44 points in a 70-65 win over Mansfield Senior in December. He was selected to represent District 6 in the Ohio North South All-Star game.

Just a junior, Lacey became Ashland’s career scoring leader in a 55-43 win at Dover earlier this month. She averaged 22.7 points a night.

Ashland became just the second school to win both the boys and girls OCC titles in the same season. West Holmes swept in 2013-14.

Ediger was joined on the first team by teammate Gabe Baith. The senior averaged 15.8 points a game and joined Ediger in Ashland’s 1,000-point club this winter.

Reed Emmons was a second-teamer. The senior averaged 10.8 points a game.

Camryn Cox joined Lacey on the girls first team. The senior averaged 8.5 points a game.

Senior Madison Hoffman and junior C.C. Steury were second-team picks. Hoffman averaged 14.1 points a game before suffering a knee injury in January. Steury averaged 7.6 points a game.

Division VI

Crestview’s Karter Goon was a first-team selection in Division VI. The senior averaged 17 points a game.

Seniors Daniel Wells and Drew Spoor were honorable-mention selections. Wells averaged 13 points a game, while Spoor was good for 11 points a night.

Crestview senior Tori Kidney was a Division VI first-teamer. She averaged 12.7 points a game.

Sophomore Shelby Bays was an honorable-mention pick for the Cougars. She averaged 7.5 points a game.
