Richard H. Rosenkoetter, Jr. 84 of Ashland passed from this life on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on November 23, 1941, in Quincy, Illinois the son of the late, Richard H. and Margaret (nee Weichman) Rosenkoetter Sr.

Richard graduated from Quincy High School, Class of 1960. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard for more than six years, stationed in Guam.

He married the love of his life, the former Linda Jean Edwards on April 21, 1972.

Richard furthered his education and earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University in 1993. He retired in 2013 as a salesman from the Sears Company. Previous to his work at Sears, Richard was a teacher and professional photographer.

He was an avid baseball enthusiast, reader, and Bridge player; and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles. Richard was a loving and compassionate Christian who cared deeply for others as well as many pets through the years. He also had a playful side. Richard would delight family with recitation of Red Riding Hood in German or ascending a ladder and looking down on them like he was an eagle.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Rosenkoetter of Ashland; two sons, Gregory Rosenkoetter of Boise, Idaho and Matthew Scott Rosenkoetter of Chesterfield, Missouri; one granddaughter, Jessica (David) Woodward Geniuss of Paul Idaho; and three siblings, Nancy Cope of Bradford, Texas, Paulette (Ron) Bangert of Bradford, Texas, and Chuck (Susan) Rosenkoetter of Jackson, Missouri.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by two sisters, Irish Russell and Charlotte Rosenkoetter, infant; a granddaughter, Jamie Hilscher; a grandson, Nathan Rosenkoetter; a daughter-in-law, Joanna Rosenkoetter; and two brothers-in-law, Craig Cope and Tim Russell.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Conger presiding.
