ASHLAND — Cayse Brown’s love language is feeding people.
That’s what brings Brown, a 2010 Ashland High School graduate, joy, she said Monday.
“One time I just started selling soups to friends and family and then it became a Facebook page and then it became a whole thing,” Brown said.
She eventually found herself catering scratch-made soups for graduation parties, weddings and other large events. Her business — Cayse’s Kitchen Catering & Co. — was growing.
“I was booked almost every single weekend from May to October last year,” Brown said.
That popularity has carried over into 2026. Brown’s new brick-and-mortar location at 623 Claremont Ave. in Ashland was packed with people from the entrance to the register Monday afternoon.
Friends, family and customers gathered to grab a bite and celebrate Brown’s accomplishment with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The business officially opened back on Jan. 31.
The menu was solely soups for the month of February. Sandwiches and salads were added to the mix in March.
“I never imagined that this is what this was going to turn into,” Brown said. “It started just by selling soups to friends and family and now we’re catering to events with 375 people, which is amazing.”

As of March 3, along with a rotating selection of scratch-made soups, the menu at Cayse’s Kitchen Catering & Co. includes:
- Chicken Caesar Wrap
- Turkey & Provolone
- Chicken salad croissant with lettuce
- Turkey & Provolone or Ham & Swiss Sliders
- Italian Grinder
- House, Italian, Caesar and pasta salads
- Fresh fruit and veggie cups
- Cottage cheese
