Robert G. Wise, 85 of Ashland passed away from this life on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Brethren Care Village following a period of failing health.

Bob was born on May 28, 1940 in Ashland, Ohio, the son of the late Earl and Florence (nee Baney) Wise.

He graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1958. Bob proudly enlisted in United States Army as a cook between the Korean and Vietnam War.

Bob married the love of his life, the former Carol Witt on May 30, 1963.

He retired after more than 35 years from the Ashland Monument Company.

Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a 61 year member of the Elks Lodge.

Throughout his life, he loved to plant a vegetable garden and cooking. Bob was famous for his applesauce, apple pie, chicken, and turnovers.

In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Cleveland Browns and OSU football and was a lifelong Browns fan and even shook Jim Brown’s hand after a game on the field. Bob also enjoyed watching cooking shows. His life would not be complete without the mention of his canine companions, his beloved German Shepherds, Tia, Maggie, and Ginger.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mrs. Carol Wise of Ashland; two daughters, Terri (Keith Fox) Wise of Brentwood, California and Staci (John Shindel) Wise of Cardington; their God daughter, Audrey Ruiz of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Schraeder, Jackie Gordon, and Lavern, David, and Daryl Wise.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, a Celebration of his Life will be held at home at a later date.
