MARION – Wednesday was just a sign of things to come for the Crestview track and field teams.
After Liam Kuhn (first in the pole vault at 14 feet, 8 inches) and Kaelyn Weaver (third in the high jump at 5-2) both qualified to state Wednesday during the Division IV regional championships at Marion Harding, the Cougars advanced another trio of field event competitors to state on Friday.
That group included Chloe Ringler in the discus (third at 115-7), Zoe Kuhn in the pole vault (seventh at 10-4) and Lane Robinson in the high jump (eighth at 6-2).
Crestview’s exploits didn’t end there, either, as standout hurdler Max Durbin was the school’s lone double-event qualifier to Columbus. The senior took third in the regional in both the 110-meter hurdles (14.91) and the 300 hurdles (season-best 39.77).
Overall, Huron swept the team titles in Marion, topping the 35-team boys field with 61 points and winning the 33-team girls meet with 63 points.
Crestview’s boys took 11th with 23 points and the Cougar girls tied for 18th with 14.
