ASHLAND — Police are investigating an incident which occurred near the intersection of U.S. Route 42 and East Main Street at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to a press release from Chief Curt Dorsey.

The incident involved a motorcyclist and a work crew headed for a job site outside of Ashland County.

“The confrontation came to head at the intersection and became a physical altercation between the motorcyclist and an occupant of the truck,” the release said. “During the altercation a firearm was shot but no one was hit.”

All parties have been accounted for and the firearm has been seized, according to the release. At this time there are no formal charges. The case will be investigated and reviewed for charges.

The investigation is ongoing. This is an isolated incident, there are no safety concerns for the community at this time, the release said.
