Tyler Westmoreland Congdon, 59, died on June 28, 2026 after a recent diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by those he loved most dearly.

Tyler graduated from The Breck School in Minneapolis and Kenyon College, Cum Laude with a degree in Philosophy. At Kenyon, during the first week of freshman year, he met the love of his life Elizabeth Lynch. Together they went on an exceptional journey. He was a true Renaissance Man. He had a brilliant mind and an unconventional spirit that allowed him to accomplish many things. While in high school, he built a 1929 Mercedes-Benz convertible kit-car. After college, he and Elizabeth lived and traveled on a houseboat, “The Silent Craftsman,” for several years. He bought a firetruck that he used to pick up his boys at school and entertained the neighbors in Ashland, Ohio with a huge display of festive holiday inflatables. He was an expert in real estate and he and Elizabeth built a real estate business that exceeded even their expectations.

As a couple, they traveled extensively with their boys and always had an adventure on the horizon. They often shared those experiences with other family members, creating lasting, joy-filled memories for all.

A kind, thoughtful and loyal man, Tyler lived his life with incredible integrity. He was a devoted husband, father and son. He loved his family above all else and leaves them a legacy of love, wisdom, kindness and honesty.

Preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Congdon, and his father-in-law, Joseph H. Lynch, Tyler is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth, his sons, Daniel and Matthew, his mother and stepfather, Gloria and Phillip Smith, his sister, Laura Congdon (Kelly), his mother-in-law, Ann Lynch, his brothers-in-law, Michael Lynch (Chris), Matthew Lynch (Melissa), his bonus sisters, Pamela Latanision (Mike), Penny Smith (Jim), Paula Gilmore (Eames), Patrice Friedman (Louis), and innumerable cousins, nieces and nephews that he held dear.
