Ruth Eileen Martin, age 70, of Ashland, OH, died on July 3, 2026, at The Bayside Health & Rehab Center in New London, OH, following a long illness.
On July 12, 1955, she was born in New London, OH, to the late Kathryn Mundorf and Louis Martin.
At the age of 18, she married Danny L. Lawson. They had three sons together. They spent 13 years together before parting ways. Although their relationship had ended, they remained amicable for the sake of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three sons, Daniel (Melissa) Lawson of Ashland, Charles (Rachelle) Lawson of Ashland, and Christopher (Cindy) Lawson of Ashland. One sister, Marilyn Malicoat of Mansfield, and one brother, Gregory Martin, of Shelby.
Three grandsons: Zach Lawson, Danny Lawson, and Kyle Lawson, three granddaughters: Tilisha Gill, Kierstan (Zach) Zachman, and Ciera Lawson. Five great-grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, one sister, Theresa Househoulder, and 3 brothers: Paul Martin, Ricky Martin, and Steve Martin.
She worked at National Latex for 28 years, making punch ball balloons. She also bartended at Brandy’s Bar and worked Club 42’s drive-thru before it closed down.
She was part of the Ashland Eagles and Ashland Amvets most of her life. Although she believed in the Lord, she did not have a home church.
She lived most of her life in Ashland, OH. However, she was known to live in Shelby, New London, and Polk.
She loved all things Native Indians and collected quite a collection of dolls, plates, and dream catchers. She spent a lot of time playing BINGO and Euchre.
She would say her greatest achievements were her three sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She made friends wherever she went and took care of those whom she cared about.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice in New London and the Bayside Health & Recovery Center of New London for taking care of Ruth during her last days.
A celebration of life will be held at The Salvation Army Ashland Kroc Center at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to her sons to help cover the cost of her cremation or to The Salvation Army Ashland Kroc Center.
