BRONSON TOWNSHIP — A West Salem man was killed Friday following a two-vehicle crash in Huron County, according to the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Scott A. Wilkes, 53, of West Salem, was transported by ambulance to Fisher Titus Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Kyle Smialowski, 45, of Norwalk, was the driver of the other vehicle. He suffered minor injuries.

The crash occurred at 4:28 p.m. on New State Road at Dublin Road in Bronson Township.

The preliminary investigation showed a Chevrolet Impala, operated by Wilkes, was traveling eastbound on Dublin Road. Wilkes failed to yield at a posted stop sign at New State Road and was struck by a southbound Chevrolet Silverado HD, operated by Smialowski.

The Impala went off the southwest corner of the intersection, and the Silverado HD went off the southeast corner of the intersection.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Norwalk Fire Department, North Central EMS, Wilcox Towing and Interstate Towing.

The incident remains under investigation.
