ASHLAND — There were 16 people sentenced in June for felony convictions in Ashland County.

Ashland County Common Pleas Court Judge David Stimpert ordered the following sentences, unless otherwise noted. The following names stem from a report generated by Stimpert.

Three people receive ‘intervention in lieu of conviction’ rulings

Intervention in lieu of conviction rulings are issued when a court determines that drug or alcohol usage, mental illness or intellectual disability was a factor leading to the criminal offense.

  • Ja’Leayre Belton, 20, of Columbus, received an ILC for convictions of carrying concealed weapons and improper handling. The terms of the ILC plan require two years of supervision, mental health and substance abuse programming and maintaining sobriety. Belton also faces court costs. The case originated Sept. 12, 2025.
  • Andrew Chinchar, 21, of Streetsboro, received an ILC for convictions of trafficking in harmful intoxicants (two counts) and improperly dispensing nitrous oxide. The terms of the ILC plan require two years of supervision, mental health and substance abuse programming and maintaining sobriety. Chinchar also faces court costs. The case originated Feb. 12.
  • Leticia Jones, 28, of Cleveland, received an ILC for a conviction of aggravated possession of oxycodone. The terms of the ILC plan require two years of supervision, substance abuse programming and maintaining sobriety. Jones also faces court costs. The case originated Feb. 12.

Four people sentenced June 1

  • Shawna Lake, 35, of Wooster, was sentenced to 180 days in prison and completion of inpatient treatment following convictions of aggravated possession of methamphetamine and theft. Lake received 180 days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Upon release, Lake will face an optional two-year post-release control sanction if prison is imposed. Lake also received three years of community control, with reserved prison time of six to 12 months if community control is violated. The case originated Sept. 10, 2024.
  • Jackie Babb, 54, of Greenwich, was sentenced to 180 days at a community-based correctional facility following a conviction of aggravated possession of methamphetamine. Babb received three days of jail credit and also faces a $250 fine, plus court costs. Upon release, Babb will face an optional two-year post-release control sanction if prison is imposed. Babb also received two years of community control, with reserved prison time of six to 12 months if community control is violated. The case originated June 14, 2024.
  • Jacqueline Lovell, 47, of Mansfield, was sentenced to 180 days at a community-based correctional facility following a conviction of aggravated possession of methamphetamine. Lovell received 71 days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Upon release, Lovell will face an optional two-year post-release control sanction if prison is imposed. Babb also received three years of community control, with reserved prison time of six to 12 months if community control is violated. The case originated March 14, 2024.
  • Lonie Scott, 52, of Mansfield, was sentenced to six months in prison following a conviction of domestic violence. Scott received 125 days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Upon release, Scott will face an optional two-year post-release control sanction. The case originated Jan. 8.

Three people sentenced June 8

  • Andre Bailey, 41, of Youngstown, was sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison following a conviction of possession of a fentanyl-related compound. Three additional charges were dismissed: trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, aggravated possession of drugs and tampering with evidence. Bailey received two days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Upon release, Bailey will face a mandatory post-release control sanction of two to five years. The case originated Nov. 16, 2023.
  • Diane Donahue, 66, of Sullivan, was sentenced to 30 days in jail following a conviction of cruelty to companion animals. Donahue received four days of jail credit and also faces a $250 fine, plus court costs. Upon release, Donahue will face an optional two-year post-release control sanction if prison is imposed. Donahue also received two years of community control, with reserved prison time of six to 12 months if community control is violated. The case originated Feb. 13.
  • Warren Ortiz, 37, of Jeromesville, was sentenced to 44 to 49.5 years in prison following convictions of kidnapping, rape (three counts) and merged counts of sexual battery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Ortiz received 51 days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Upon release, Ortiz will face a mandatory five-year post-release control sanction and must also register as a Tier III sex offender. The case originated May 7, 2025.

Three people sentenced June 15

  • Erik Resar, 42, of Jeromesville, was sentenced to 16 months in prison following convictions of breaking and entering and grand theft, which were merged for sentencing. An additional charge of receiving stolen property was dismissed. Resar received 26 days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Upon release, Resar will face an optional two-year post-release control sanction. The case originated May 14.
  • Lekia Christie, 23, of Marion, was sentenced to 30 days in jail following a conviction of robbery. An additional count of theft was dismissed. Christie received nine days of jail credit and also faces a $250 fine, plus court costs. Upon release, Christie will face a post-release control sanction of one to three years if prison is imposed. Christie also received two years of community control, with reserved prison time of nine to 36 months if community control is violated. The case originated Jan. 2.
  • Susan Gray, 51, of Mansfield, was sentenced to six months in prison following a conviction of possession of a fentanyl-related compound. Gray received 60 days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Upon release, Gray will face an optional two-year post-release control sanction. The case originated July 8, 2021.

One person sentenced June 18

  • Marvin Kirkpatrick, 30, of Ashland, was sentenced to two concurrent 12-month prison sentences following convictions of aggravated possession and possession of cocaine. Kirkpatrick received 280 days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Upon release, Kirkpatrick will face an optional two-year post-release control sanction. The case originated Dec. 20, 2023.
    • In a separate case, Kirkpatrick was sentenced to 10 to 12.5 years in prison following convictions of trafficking in cocaine (two counts), aggravated trafficking and aggravated possession (two counts). Three additional counts were dismissed: possession of cocaine, aggravated trafficking and weapons under disability. Kirkpatrick received 190 days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Kirkpatrick must also forfeit a firearm and money. Upon release, Kirkpatrick will face a mandatory post-release control sanction of two to five years. The case originated Dec. 11, 2025.

Four people sentenced June 22

  • Kevin Smoot, Sr., 65, of Mt. Gilead, was sentenced to 30 days in jail and a substance abuse treatment program following convictions of aggravated possession (three counts) and OVI. Four additional charges were dismissed: aggravated possession, possession of drugs (two counts) and OVI. Smoot received four days of jail credit and also faces a $375 fine, plus court costs, along with a one-year driver’s license suspension. Upon release, Smoot faces an optional two-year post-release control sanction if prison is imposed. Smoot also received two years of community control, with reserved prison time of nine to 36 months (count one) or six to 12 months (counts two and three) if community control is violated. The case originated June 13, 2025.
  • Antonio Davis, 47, of Canton, was sentenced to 17 days in jail and a substance abuse treatment program following a conviction of aggravated possession of methamphetamine. One count of possession of cocaine was dismissed. Davis received 17 days of jail credit and also faces a $250 fine, plus court costs. Upon release, Davis faces an optional two-year post-release control sanction if prison is imposed. Davis also received two years of community control, with reserved prison time of six to 12 months if community control is violated. The case originated April 11, 2024.
  • Jennifer Reeder, 46, of Mansfield, was sentenced to 15 days in jail and a substance abuse treatment program following a conviction of aggravated possession of methamphetamine. Reeder received 15 days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Upon release, Reeder will face an optional two-year post-release control sanction if prison is imposed. Reeder also received three years of community control, with reserved prison time of six to 12 months if community control is violated. The case originated May 20, 2024.
  • Blake Johnson, 24, of Powhatan Point, was sentenced to 120 days in jail following convictions of unauthorized use of a vehicle, theft and misuse of a credit card. Johnson received 120 days of jail credit and also faces court costs, along with 100 hours of community work service. Upon release, Johnson faces an optional two-year post-release control sanction if prison is imposed. Johnson also received three years of community control, with reserved prison time of six to 12 months if community control is violated. The case originated Feb. 9, 2024.

One person sentenced June 25

  • Chad Sexton, 44, of Ashland, was sentenced to nine months in prison following a conviction of possession of a fentanyl-related compound. Sexton received 113 days of jail credit and also faces court costs. Upon release, Sexton faces an optional two-year post-release control sanction. The case originated Jan. 11, 2024.
