ASHLAND – Thanks to the continued generosity of the Ashland Area Safety Council, local children will once again have the opportunity to build lifelong safety skills through Safety Town at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Ashland.
Designed for children entering kindergarten this fall, Safety Town will be held July 21 to 23 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
The three-day program introduces participants to important safety concepts including fire safety, bus safety, bicycle safety, pedestrian awareness, and more through engaging, hands-on activities.
Each child will receive a certificate of completion and participate in a graduation ceremony.
To help make the program possible, the Ashland Area Safety Council has once again provided a generous $1,000 donation to support Safety Town.

In addition to the Safety Council’s financial support, numerous community organizations generously volunteer their time and expertise to provide hands-on safety demonstrations throughout the program, including:
- Ohio State Highway Patrol – Ashland.
- Ashland County Sheriff’s Office.
- Ashland City Fire Department.
- Ashland City Police Division.
- Ashland City Schools Transportation Department.
“Safety Town is one of those programs that truly demonstrates what makes Ashland such a special community,” said Dan Lawson, Ph.D., Director of Community Relations & Development at The Ashland Kroc Center. “When local organizations come together with a shared commitment to investing in our children, we’re doing more than teaching safety—we’re helping build confidence, strengthen community partnerships, and prepare young learners for a successful start to kindergarten.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the Ashland Area Safety Council and all of our community partners who make this program possible each year.”
While spaces are limited for participation in the Safety Town program, there are still a few openings available for children entering Kindergarten in Fall 2026.
Parents and guardians can reserve their child’s spot today by calling 419-281-8001 or by going to https://bit.ly/44CPXYF and search for “Safety Town.” Cost for participation is $35 per child. Scholarships are available.
