ASHLAND — Up to five Ashland County women will be highlighted in October for their contributions to the community.

The mission of the Ashland County Women of Achievement is to continue the work of its founder, Kay Conrad, and highlight women who have reached beyond themselves to contribute substantially to the quality of life in Ashland County, through involvement with family, career, community, volunteerism and social issues.

In order to be one of the five women selected, nominees must have lived in Ashland County for at least five years and must be a current resident. Nominees must also be 21 years of age or older.

Submissions will be accepted up to July 31. An induction ceremony is currently set for Oct. 22 at Mount Vernon Estate.

Here’s what the nomination process consists of:

  • A nomination form, linked here, to attest to the nominee’s achievements.
  • A list of their personal/family, work and social/volunteerism accomplishments.
  • A profile of the nominee’s achievements, not to exceed three pages, for a total nomination package not to exceed five pages.

The nomination should cover who the nominee is, answering questions such as:

  • Who is she?
  • What are her significant accomplishments and awards?
  • What makes her contributions unique?
  • How has she helped better the Ashland County community, initiated change or provided inspiration?

Awards are based on the information provided, not on prior information the committee may (or may not) have about a nominee.

A suggestion from the committee is to work with the nominee’s family, co-workers, friends and the nominee herself, in order to provide the most complete biography possible. On the nomination form, nominators are asked to list two people who can attest to the nominee’s contributions — who may be contacted by the committee.

The more information provided about a nominee, the better the committee will be able to recognize her potential as an award winner.

Nominations can be submitted via the following methods:

  • By mail: Women of Achievement, P.O. Box 685, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
  • By email: ashlandwomenofachievement@gmail.com.
  • By Google Form: Click here.

The committee requires the following selection criteria for consideration of nominees. It looks for specific accomplishment(s) that can be objectively recognized in each area, such as:
