ASHLAND — The Ashland Christian Health Center is a faith-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) agency dedicated to holistically care for and elevate the dignity of Ashland County residents who are uninsured or under-insured.
In 2002, several professionals addressed the medical need in our community for those who are uninsured and cannot afford primary medical care.
After much consulting, planning and praying, the first clinic was held August 19, 2003.
We are pleased to be celebrating these 23 years of ministry.
Our volunteers represent area churches and are always ready to pray with our patients. The Ashland Christian Health Center is located at 380 E. 4th St. in Ashland. Those interested in becoming medical volunteers can call our office at 419-903-0475.
Patient qualifications
Ashland County adults 18 and over without private insurance, Medicaid or Medicare.
Medical Clinics are Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
“Patients receive primary medical care, and our clinics are fully staffed by volunteers –
physicians, nurses, receptionist, hosts and hostesses,” the agency stated.
“We do ask our patients to donate toward their clinic visit, usually a payment of $25 or do four hours of volunteer work to help ‘pay-it-forward.’ No patient is turned away regardless of their ability to pay or volunteer.
“Expanded services we provide now include diabetes and chronic illness
education and support, respiratory referrals, lab services and diagnostic testing with
partner facilities.
“We also have the Link to Hope Coordinator Cindy Kaufman assisting with the connection to community resources. Our durable medical equipment bank allows us to
collect and share donated durable medical equipment like walkers, wheelchairs,
shower chairs and more.”
