William I. “Barber Bill” Gebhart, 89 of Perrysville passed away on Monday afternoon, August 17, 2026, in the Kingston of Ashland following a period of declining health.

He was born on January 11, 1937, in Ashland the son of the late Franklin and Phyllis (nee Dunford) Gebhart.

Bill graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1956. Following high school, Bill obtained his barber license in 1957. He proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1960.

He married the love of his life, the former, Nancy Lease, on October 17, 1959.

Barber Bill started the Gebhart Family Grooming Center in 1972. For more than 50 years he owned and operated his barber shop and loved every minute of it and never had plans of retiring.

He was a devoted member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Perrysville, Ashland Noon Lions Club, and a 55-year member of the Ashland Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he loved to collect vinyl records.

Bill is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Gebhart of Northwood, Jim (Angela) Gebhart of Loudonville and Tom Gebhart of Clarks Hill, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jessica Johnson, Allison Gebhart, Victoria Gebhart, Russell (Gillian) Gebhart; several great grandchildren; and his siblings, Alan Mary Gebhart, Judy (Dan) Bear, Shirley (James) Slater, and Warren Gebhart.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Nancy who passed away on March 17, 2025; and a daughter-in-law, Serina Gebhart.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Dieter Schade presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery where the Perrysville Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
