Ashland University has been selected a 2026-27 College of Distinction.

ASHLAND — Ashland University has been selected a 2026-27 College of Distinction, earning the designation for the second consecutive year alongside specialized honors across five academic and student service programs.

The national award recognizes higher education institutions demonstrating a student-first philosophy evaluated through four criteria: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes.

In addition to the overall designation, Ashland received program-specific distinctions in business, education, nursing, career development and military support.

“This recognition from Colleges of Distinction is a testament to the exceptional work of our faculty and staff,” said Jon Parrish Peede, president of Ashland University.

“The addition of five program distinctions highlights the breadth of the Ashland experience and our commitment to preparing students for lives of purpose, leadership, and service.”

Colleges of Distinction selects institutions through academic research and interviews with university leadership.

Tyler Schritter, chief operating officer for Colleges of Distinction, noted that the university tailors its support to individual student needs.

“Ashland University has built an environment where students are supported and challenged in ways that translate into real academic, professional, and personal outcomes,” Schritter said.

The university’s specific honors include:

  • Business: The Dauch College of Business and Economics was recognized for its hands-on curriculum in fields ranging from traditional accounting and finance to fashion merchandising and industrial engineering.
  • Education: The Dwight Schar College of Education earned praise for producing adaptable, classroom-ready teachers through its undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Nursing: The Dwight Schar College of Nursing and Health Science was honored for training clinical healthcare professionals guided by its core values of integrity, caring, accountability, respect, and excellence.
  • Career Development: The Career Center for Life Calling received honors for integrating career preparation, networking, and internship placements directly into the undergraduate experience.

Founded in 2000, Colleges of Distinction evaluates undergraduate institutions across the United States to assist prospective students, parents, and high school counselors during the college search process.
